Abstract A mother, also a psychologist, describes her intellectual and spiritual journey occasioned by the birth of her son with Down's syndrome. She describes how she drew upon her own intellectual self-analysis, her professional skills, and her spiritual traditions in Hinduism in reshaping her own attitudes toward her son.
