Abstract | {SUMMARY} The Chasidic master Yehudi {HaKadosh} said, {“Good} intentions alone not accompanied by action are without value. The main thing is the action, as this is what makes the intention so profound.” The Minneapolis Jewish community, committed to respond to the needs of Jews with disabilities and their families, conducted a research study to identify specific needs so that the response would be effective. Participants in the research included Jews with disabilities, family members, rabbis and other community professionals. It became clear that the good intentions of the institutions were not enough to help Jews with disabilities move from invisibility to visibly. The research moved the community to action and became the foundation for our innovative and successful Jewish Community Inclusion Program for People with Disabilities. |
